Thai bodywork is a unique style of bodywork that embodies the essence of healing touch, acupressure, yoga, and meditation. With these qualities as its source, Thai bodywork flows onto the mat though a graceful and creative blend of compression via the hands, thumbs, elbows, knees and feet, acupressure point work, and both light-to-deep stretching.
While Thai bodywork is not necessarily intended as a deep-tissue massage therapy, the slower, present, and thorough ways we work often result in the release of deeply held physical tension and areas of contraction.
Because some of the issues we carry are held in the physical body as patterns of tension and/or pain, Thai bodywork allows us to literally “get our hands on the issues” to help them soften and release. Thai bodywork also helps restore a healthy flow of energy throughout the body, which can bring great relief to both major and minor issues, energize and relax us, and activate the body’s natural healing ability.
Most importantly, Thai bodywork always works with the whole rather than attempting to isolate a specific issue or problem area; our physical, emotional, and mental facets of life are all part of the same system, despite the appearance of being separate. By giving attention to the whole, we encourage healing to reach into every area of our lives.
All Thai bodywork sessions are received on the mat, fully clothed in loose, comfortable clothing.
